In addition to dentists Dr. Baxter and Macon Sapp, our staff is made up of five talented women, who are well-trained in the science of dental care and delivery. They have excellent communication skills, and are able to answer any questions concerning your dental care and that of your family.
As a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Temple University School of Dentistry, Dr. Baxter Sapp has been serving the dental health care needs of Durham for over 50 years. He spent the first 17 years of his career as a member of the Private Diagnostic Clinic at Duke University Medical Center before opening his own dental practice in Durham.

Dr Macon Sapp received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Erskine College in 1986. During his high school and college days he found that working in his father’'s dental office doing jobs assigned to him by the staff to be a great source of interest, so after college he entered the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry to follow in his great grandfather’s and father’'s footsteps. At his graduation in 1990 he received the Academy of General Dentistry Senior Student Award for his excellent knowledge, interest, and proficiency in the Science of General Dentistry. He was appointed a volunteer Adjunct Assistant Professor in the department of Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry at the Dental School. He holds memberships in the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Academy of Operative Dentistry. He is a Fellow in the International College of Dentists, and was invited to join in the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry in 1999. Dr. Macon’s passions are his patients, his dental practice, and his two daughters, Ali and Mary Macon. He enjoys biking, fishing, weight training, and working in his yard at home. The opportunity to practice with his father for the last 21 years has afforded him an opportunity to enjoy the practice of dentistry in a special way.
Rachel Lovelace joined Durham Dentistry in 2004 and has fit into both the clinical and administrative departments beautifully with confidence and enthusiasm. Her winning smile and cheerful disposition make her a valuable asset to welcome patients at the front desk. She brightens everyone’s day and enjoys interacting with our patients to make them feel confident and secure with their proposed dental treatment. She excelled so well in the business administration of our practice that she has been promoted to Office Manager. Her mother has managed a dental practice in North Carolina for the past 37 years, so she has a great background in dental practice management. Rachel lives in Raleigh with her husband and enjoys wakeboarding, cooking, interior design, and all things creative.
Angela joined our dental practice in 2004 as well, bringing with her experience from 10 years of pediatric dentistry. Her lovely smile and confident manner helps her demonstrate exceptional patient care skills with both adults and children. Angela lives in Prospect Hill with her husband, Kevin and three beautiful children where they are very active and involved with their church, baseball and dance. Angela loves spending time with her family and helping people in her small town community.
Marley joined Durham Dentistry in 1984 and has a dedication to this dental practice that is unmatched. Her thoughtful and kind disposition make her a lovely part of our dental team. Born and raised right around the corner in Hope Valley, she is a die hard Duke Blue Devils fan. She still lives in Durham with her husband and their Springer Spaniel Mazey.
Melanie is the newest addition to our dental practice. She and her family are originally from Mississippi. She has a very pleasant demeanor and brings a nurturing and supportive vibe to our practice. She and her husband of 31 years, a Southern Baptist minister, have two sons and they love spending time doing outdoor activities. We are very happy to have her on board with our dental team to provide you with the highest quality of dental care.

We will file your dental benefit plan provided that you give us all of the correct information for filing. We are not ‘in network’ with any insurance company, so you may want to check with your benefit plan to see what their ‘out of network’ coverage guidelines are. We are happy to file your dental claims for you as a courtesy to you, but we require payment at time of service and your benefit plan will reimburse you directly.
